Lil Wayne and what is supposed to be his last album, Carter V, only allows for more respect to be given to this gifted artist. Carter V is a reflection of the fire and drive behind the man spitting out constant rhymes. He has already succeeded in the music industry, and this album shows off all his skills and hard work.
Lil Wayne is not trying to make a name for himself, like in the previous albums. Tha Carter V is unlike the other Carter albums. But with four Grammys and nine albums to his name, Carter is an industry veteran at the tender age of 28. His own daughter, Reginae Carter, sings the chorus of the eleventh song on the album, “Famous.” Lil Wayne may appear to be the stereotypical rapper: bad-boy lyrics, tattoos, with a criminal record and multiple offspring. Features include The Weeknd, Chance The Rapper, Mack Maine, Vado, T.I., Euro & others. Weezy touches all types of instrumentals like 'Type of Way', 'Bugatti' 'New Slaves' & many more. This song has to do with dealing with death. Following this, the first actual song on the album is “Don’t Cry” featuring XXXTENTACION. The album begins with “I Love You Dwayne.” It is an emotional message from Lil Wayne’s mother speaking highly of her son and commending him for all of his accomplishments. He spits out rhymes and flows through the beats like no other rapper. Lil Wayne has a distinct sound, and it is no different on this album. It is a total of twenty three songs, making it one hour and twenty-seven minutes.
This is Lil Wayne’s twelfth studio album. Tha Carter V was to be released in 2014 originally, but due to record label issues, we are just now getting the chance to hear this piece of art. He is an artist who has made such a positive name for himself in the music industry, and his final album is nothing but talent. An album filled with emotion and passion, Lil Wayne did not disappoint.
